Obama is a magician using anyone to lead us into fascism.
I feel this man is a masterful magician. He is the master of sleight of hand, distraction and use of the english language to dodge a direct question by using his thesaurus like vocabulary to leave the common man or woman satisfied that he has told them the truth, while in fact he has just manipulated words with multiple meaning, yet satisfied his intellectual inferior critics. He doesn't want to give everyone the same money. he does want the power to do his will, regardlees of this nations past history and constitution. Defender of freedom of speech, press and ability to assemble; as long as it further his agenda. Anyone dissenting is labeled a racist, wacko or threat to national security. We now are mobs when doing the same constitutional things that unions have done for years. Will it take religious leaders, dumping gasoline upon themselves in front of the whitehouse, and setting themselves ablaze for other nations to record in their history books about the radical change of America? I don't know, but with no checks and balances working, I no something drastic will have to come for America to wake up. Hippies of the 60's! this health care bill is going to screw you the most as it will the people on Medicaid. Yes you will have co-pays and if you over 65 considered expendable because you tax the system financially with socialsecurity and a greater need to use health care. The main stream media should be held equally accountable for not reporting the truth or both sides of a story. Even if they just reported the facts and didn't editorialize would be a help. Unfortunately these people get off on their power, just as the majority in Congress and the executive branch starting with Obama.

I think that the "curse of politics" is a result of how politicians view the "average american". The politician sees the rich as someone they can tax and exploit, they see the poor as someone they can represent and exploit, and they see the average american as a fool that they can persuade and exploit.
I believe that fundamentally the problem with our represenatives today is that they no longer see us as capable. They don't see us as capable of much of what you outlined (taking care of ourselves and our families, working for ourselves). I do not know where this belief comes from, if it is something that we the people have put in their heads because we have lots our sense of responsibility, or if it is some utopia (the government will take better care of your) that they have effectively sold us. Either way, I don't want their help. I want them out of the way. I want to provide for my family, and I want you to provide for your family. If we all shared that motivation (a motivation that can really move people to action and innovation) America would be stronger....more would be successful.
I disagree with your comments regarding the rich and poor. The idea of these economic classes is something that is sold by politicians. If they can get you to hate the rich they can sell you their government help programs. America does not have a class system, as a class system tells you that you are stuck in that class, that you can't move, that you will forever be poor or rich. America is great in that the poor can become rich just as easily as the rich can become poor. And you are right, the government should not have bailed out these folks, they should have let them become poor.
Just A Discouraged American
To anyone who cares,
I am just your average american. It seems to be that the average american doesn't know what to believe. The media, politicans, the other powers to be can all lie, twist or just spin anything they want.
We in the middle don't know what the hell to believe anymore. We just want to get on with our lives and families. We want what everyone wants which is to be able to provide for our families and live a descent life.
But at the same time we are seeing the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I like Obama personally and don't believe any president intends to hurt the people he governs, but bailing out billionaires and such who have obviously mishandled their wealth out of greed only lets the billionaires to walk away with all that money and is another kick in the gut for the average American. I heard that it was necessary so the economy wont get worse, but someone needs to turn their attention to the sinking ship the rest of us Americans are in. It time to help us...
The same for local governments. I live in California and I thought when I voted for Arnold that he would be a man of the people since he was not a politician. But somehow he has mis-manged or allowed to be mismanged the state's resources that now he is taxing everything that moves, cutting much needed programs and really making the quality of life and happiness of the average citizen to be its lowest I can remember.
This is not how we are supposed to live. For as long as I can remember it has been this way. We put our hope in a new president or governor only for them to be a carbon copy of the last. They end up hurting us and dissapointing us and taxing us until we can barely feed our families.
Is this the curse of politics? Is this what we will always have to live with? Is it the nature of the beast and we will just have to suffer in direct relation to how bad our politicans are?
All I can say is that it is sad that the dissapointment only repeats itself while the average american tries to be a good and loyal American. It seems that our ability to shape our countries future is as futile as our attempt to understand what is really happening to us.
But we can only take so much and I can tell you that the moral of the average american is at one of its lowest points. We try to be patient and work hard and keep faith in the American way, but the abuses by the powers to be have become so blarring that even those of us that understand the least about the process can see it. I suppose there is no power on earth that can turn the tide of greed. People with billions only want more, when the average american only wants to make it another day.
If I am wrong about what I have said, please do not send me negative comments...remember I am just an average American who is purposely kept confused.
