rickt011, I disagree with some of what you posted.  I do not believe that health care is a "right".  Let me explain.  Constitutional rights are afforded the people outside of the government.  It is not the government that provides these rights it is the fact that we are human beings that we deserve the rights.  Our Bill or Rights was put in place to protect these God given rights from abuse by the government, not to establish ways for the government to provide for the people.  They are unconditional.  And do not vary.  The problem with establishing heatlh care as a right, kinda like setting education as a right, is that you run into a problem trying to establish conditions, or levels.  What level of health care should all people deserve?  What level of education do all people deserve?

I think that health care companies are unfairly given a bad rap.  Where would our level of care be if health care companies did not make a profit?  Where would we be if there was not an incentive for them to innovate and come up with new solutions to make us healthier and to heal us?

Anytime the government has tried to establish a level of "fairness" they have failed.  Fairness already exists....its called America.  In order to create more fairness the government should allow for more personal freedom, not try to "balance the playing field".

Your task to purge the Congress is commendable, and necessary, but very daunting. We as Americans must rise to the occasion. I believe we are ready to do that, as shown from the 9/12 march. Ousting the degenerate congress is achievable.

Loved your comments

It is short-sighted of one to think that we are entitled to benefits we do not pay for. My father always told me that “Nobody owes me nothing”. In America, I have the freedom to be am responsible for myself and due to my Christian beliefs, I am responsible to be charitable to others. It is a matter of choice.

Capitalism allows me this freedom. Big Business does not own me. I own it with my money and how I spend it. Business is dependent on me, and I can change my habits, if I have the freedom to do so. Put you money where your mouth is. Talk the talk, and walk the walk with how you spend you time and money.

Your assumption that government knows better, is foolishness. This administration wants to take away my freedoms and yours, replacing control over our ability to spend our money though unconstitutional amendments and some cases, plain force. Look at GM if you want to see this kind of enforcement. Big Government is in bed with Big Business, and that is why you see TARP, the Stimulus, Cap & Trade, and Card Check bills. These bills are crafted by outside extremist groups which have infiltrated this administration by invitation. The purpose is to eliminate other competitors so that there is only one choice. We have seen that in the way this President gets into office. Twice he has eliminated the opposition by force and slander. It’s easier to get elected if there is not choice. We need to be aware of this strategy.

Even in Europe and Canada, we can see that these socialist programs do not work. Plain and simple, you get what you pay for.  Public Healthcare Options are unsustainable. Government cannot be successful, on any level, with being able to sustain with any kind of business in profit. When the government loses, we the taxpayer lose more. Why you think this administration can turn things around without any evidence, but to the contrary, has me baffled.

In your example about rape, you assume the rape victim wants to end the pregnancy or would not consider adoption. You have chosen to eliminate the victim’s choice. To me, this is a more extreme injustice for the fetus and the victim. As well, your assumption that all are entitled to the finest doctors; it is misguided. We are not entitled to determine our own race or gender, nor are we entitled to a problem free world.

I read the fear in your words. You fear disease, and rightfully so, but you call for a national health control and cite the need for amnesty. You must be under the impression that disease can be controlled as much as death can. Misguided again, is your call for illegal aliens to be cared for, when it is apparent that they choose to spend their money on other things, knowing that healthcare is already afforded them without penalty. Remember it was the illegal’s that brought the H1N1 strain into America.

Do you fear the cost? Do you really believe what this inexperienced, left winged administration says? Your fears lead you to step closer to global domination, which is where this administration want you to be, fearful not hopeful. If you are so taken by being coddled by a government, then go to Cuba.

The right thing to do is to get rid of all government controlled options, what ever they want to call it, exchange, co-op, or whatever. Government control destroys true capitalism and competition. Government control creates unneeded regulations which allow for larger government and poor management practices, and then the taxpayer gets fleeced.

There should be no bill allowing any federal funding for abortions, euthanasia, or illegal care.

We need a bill is needed that creates competition through natural means, allowing purchase across state lines, guaranteeing for pre-existing conditions, small business pooling, encourage health savings accounts, and allow tax incentives for individuals to purchase health insurance apart from their employee. Business should not be punished for allowing employees a choice in what insurance they purchase. It is time for healthcare to become separated from employment.

Above all, tort reform, and not the experimental programs, should be a single line item. This is the right thing for America, and its freedoms.

Rick your thoughts are admirable but misguided and I agree health reform is long over due, but do it correctly. Fix the problems that we are all aware of. You have cast the insurance companies as the villians and they are from time to time. If you think they are bad wait until you have the gov. involved. No the answer is not more gov. programs it's more gov. accountability. The reason the insurance companies have so much power as you put it is because sthey spend vast sums of money buying off Congress to get their way so the politicians cater to the insurance companies and not the people. This has been going on so long politicians like Barmey Frank as overseer of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac can report to the people that there are no financial problems with the either of them, then when they fail he is not held accountable. In fact he is exalted by his party. This occurs on both sides of the isle.

To fix this country including health care we must fix Congress. Congress is full of dishonorable people. Many have financial problems, failed businesses, DUI convictions, tax issues, spousal abuse charges, they are adulterers, alcoholics etc. Most of Congress is filled with people you would not want your children to be around. They run this country. They can be in Congress for decades, reelected by those who he/she repays campaign contributions by favoring them with legislation, year after year. This is why the health care industry has problems, this is the true cause of the resession. Powerful Congressmen and women work to get reelected they don't work for us. We need term limits on Congress to stop this cycle of corruption that only yields them going to the tax payer for more money to pay for legislation to solicit more campaign contributions. If we limited there terms so that no one person in Congress can gain such power over time those in Congress are there for the good they are doing and not the power they desire to accumulate.

Also, back to Health Care, HC is not a right given to us by the constitution, as say freedom of speech, it is a resposiblity of each and every individual. And yes gov. run HC is socialism and I believe you said you fought for this country to defend our rights, freedom and our way of life, capitalism.

I disagree, the government is there for the people. A healthcare program should be in place as the number one priority. Above all other things this government does, making sure every American has the best possible healthcare. The insurance companies are making billions off us right now, and that has to change. Yes they need to make profits, but they should be limitted to minimums. They should have no say in what is paid for or not, they should pay all bills, that is why we pay premiums. We've let these corporations get to powerful and they now consume us. They rule our lives with complicated rules and denials. All of this has to end. Insurance companies should be paying the bills and shutting their mouths. They are not doctors and they have no idea what is best for you.

A woman gets raped, she should have the finest doctors removing any pregnancy without making her feel she is killing. She was wronged, and our government has no right saying they are not going to pay for anything. The problem is the woman is raped and pregnant from it. Why should she be forced to have this pregnancy, to foot the bill? I don't care if you're pro life or what, forcing a person to carry a pregnancy is wrong! It is her decision and our government should be working with the medical issues, not the opinions of the wacko religions.

The idea is we are humans, we carry disease and die. We have drugs and can cure most of these problems, but only for the select few because they had money to pay for it. We need to make healthcare uniform to all Americans, the same care the president gets, little Johnny in Provo Utah gets. Uniform health care for all, and yes our taxes pay for it. The only requirement is you must be American, naturally or threw naturalization. No illegal Alien care, we should have insurance for these people, so they get life saving care, but are shipped back to whatever country when they are stable enough to travel. There is no need not to be humane.

This is America the land of the free! We set the bar for the rest to follow. Lets do it right for a change. Lets take care of America before we take care of anything else. Health care is priority 1, and nothing should push it aside. We pay taxes, trillions in taxes, at the very least we should get top notch health care in return. Reality is we've given too much power to the insurance companies and let the American people have to deal with these greedy companies, and usually we end up on the short end of the stick. The government should be making sure everyone gets the best care possible. No ands, ifs or buts. We can spend millions on weapons to kill, but can't afford to take care of children, the elderly. We can stop buying bombers and tanks, and buy insurance for our people.

Above all this is not socialized medicine, this is the same system we have now. We're just righting the wrongs and giving people back the power the insurance companies stole from us. It's up to us to make sure we force our elected officials to do the right thing.

Yes.  It comes back to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.  A value that has been lost in America by the Government continuing to provide, provide, provide.....as well as create an idea that you should be provided for and taken care of.  What people fail to recognize (and I hope they wake up) is that the Government always asks for something in return.....our LIBERTY.

Freedom is providing for yourself. Its encouraging to hear some good news. I pray for the defeat of any "healthcare" option by this administration. I don't want any government option, no matter what you call it, exchange, or co-op. All of them are the same. I dont want any loop holes for abortion, euthenasia, or allowance for illegal aliens. All we need is tort reform and govenment to stay way out of the insurance marketplace.

Why some much grief for 10% of the population who doesnt want health-care anyway. All they want is a FEMA option to catch them when an emergency happens. They say if you don't plan for success, don't expect it. People who don't provide for themselves get the freedom not be provided for.
